What the Discovery Channel tells you is "scientific" is not true because you are told it is scientific. 

Science is about being humble, to the fact that there is much we do not know, and paradigms are always changing. the true scientists want to learn and know more. 

Assuming that anything you are told is "Scientific" must therefore be according to the scientific method is elevated elements in the media to position of the new church.
